Hey guys! Otaku-kun here with a brand new review on a new anime!
So I first heard about this anime recently while scrolling on Myanimelist.net for this season's anime. Then I got to see a clip on Facebook, and was officially inspired to watch the anime. REVIEW: (P.s. I was writing this at night... so it probably has quite a bit of grammatical errors, & a lot of spoilers... read at your own risk! <3 ) So the intro is super, super cute... it's like the epitome of a father-daughter relationship, a child's imagination, food, and kawaii children's drawings. We are suddenly tossed into this adorable realistic world of a father (Kouhei) and his child, and the efforts he has to make in being a single parent and a math teacher. His young little girl, Tsugumi, is an aspiring Magi-Girl as we see in one of the first scenes where she's looking for her dress. During a conversation with one of his co-workers, it is revealed that his wife died six months ago. It is known previously that she had died, as a photo is revealed showing a young woman and incense. However, it appears that his daughter doesn't quite know or remember that her mother is dead. As later on in the anime, the little girl asks her father to write her mother a note to make her meat, in which the father quickly takes her over to a restaurant. Did I mention Tsugumi sleeps like I do? Sprawled out across the bed. Also hugs are the best medicine.... < Life-Advice from the Wise Otaku-kun The girl at the restaurant, named Kotori, happens to be the girl who they previously ran into at a Cherry Blossom festival, and a student at the father's school. The little girl had run over to Kotori when she was crying over the fact she was alone and her mother was busy. At the restaurant the girl attempts to make them rice, which she hasn't appeared to have made before. However, upon finishing it, it appears to be prefect. The little girl and father both agree that it tastes very well. To which Kotori blushes in reply. Kouhei promises his daughter that he will start trying to make good meals for his daughter, and that they can enjoy them together. The episode ends with Kotori asking if she can cook and eat dinner with Kouhei. Tsugumi just glaring between the two of them, a mouthful of rice stuffed in her mouth. Overall thoughts: This first episode was soooooo cute!!! I loved it so much! I can't believe I didn't start watching it until now! It was super cute and I can't wait to watch the rest of it!!! Questions: Do you ship anyone? No... not yet at least.... am I supposed to? Will you continue the series? Do you not breathe air? Does your not heart beat? Of course, I'll be continuing this series!!! Will you read the manga? O.O Yeaaaaa, hand it to me!!! Favorite Characters so far? By far has to be Kotori and Tsugumi. :3 - Otaku-kun

Alright, so I'll admit I am posting this super late in the game, considering the anime is already over. However, I was having some troubles with my old laptop, which finally died on me, and my new laptop as having difficulties playing Hulu & Crunchyroll videos. Finally, however, I have fixed said problem and was able to get back to this anime!!! Forewarning, there won't be many spoilers (as I try to avoid those like he black plague), but please forgive me if I accidentally type some in. EP. 2 Review: Plot (You can skip this part, if you don't want spoilers): So here it was Ep. 2, we left off with a ragtag group connected by this project which allows them to feel each other's pain. We still don't know too much about them yet, however that all changes just ever so slightly once this episode begins. We are suddenly tossed into the characters' "Darkest Secrets," and watch as they are exploited one by one in order to secure their lives (aka if they don't say their darkest secrets they get punished, and they could easily die if they don't answer fast enough). So as the episode continues, their secrets are revealed one by one. (NOTE: I'm no longer calling them "dark" because although it has to be a secret they wouldn't share with anyone.... some of them are just flat out not horrifying as you would think). We are shown an entirely different side of these characters, and suddenly realize they may not quite be exactly as we took them for. We are thrown into the ending once all their secrets are out in the open, and they are told their main goal. Also there's some really cute ship stuff in this ep... so be prepared for the feels. In order to exit Kiznaiver, they must survive the summer. Sounds simple right? Oh, I can tell you otherwise... but let's not spoil the whole show, kay? Ep. 3:
Plot (REMEMBER, this is where the spoilers live, so feel free to skip this): Here we discover that Katsuhira & Chidori live in the same apartment complex, and that their apartments are besides each other. Allowing a hilarious scene between Tenga and the gap between their balconies (Owwwwww). We also discover there is a final character needed, #7. We discover this when everyone feels a sharp pain and they notice the sign D-7 on their wrist. Did I ever mention I really ship Nico & Tenga? Cause I do. <3 After quite a bit of violent actions and a chase scene, we finally get to see and hear the 7th Kiznaiver member. Of course we also discover he's uhm... well... a masochist. Yeah, it's really odd, (& absolutely nothing like the S & M moment in Inu x Boku S.S.). Overall thoughts on Ep. 2 & 3: I have to say that I'm still thoroughly enjoying this series. However, I don't quite know what to think of this new masochist character. Let's just say I think he's the reason why Netflix or Hulu would put this at a PG-14 rating. XD Questions: Who does Otaku-kun ship? I ship Nico x Tenga, Chidori x Katsuhira, and lastly, Yuta x Maki. Are you still going to continue watching Kiznaiver? As long as my player can load, YES! I still enjoy this series. Thanks for reading! - Otaku-kun Anime: Kiznaiver Episode One: Sometimes, a Bond Can Bloom from the First Day Eye Contact Is Made I've been overhearing a lot of great reviews about Kiznaiver, and decided to take a look into it and see if what everyone is proclaiming is true in my opinions. First off, the introduction to the main character reels you in right off the bat. With a young child running alone through the halls, with a voice echoing, "You're not the same as us, Katsuhira-kun. You'll be able to get it back. You'll be able to get back your pain." That scene alone made me glued to my laptop screen to the point I felt there may be no return. Soon after we are shown the opening, which to be honest has a pretty cool song. However, if I'm to rate the opening I can't give it too high of a score as it's not my favorite. Now, for the plot line discussion. Each main character within the anime has one of the "Seven Deadly Sins," well, sort of. I don't quite remember, "The Goody-Two Shoes" being one of the seven deadly sins, but you catch the anime's drift pretty quickly. These seven students who happen to go to the same school, were connected through the Kizuna System. The Kizuna system was invented in the hopes to create a team which would help to discover the ability to cease the reasons why human's fight one another. This is established by creating a bond between them, a bond connecting them through their wounds. And what better way to do this than by connecting their pain? So that if one is punched they all feel as though they've been punched. Finally we are told that this rag-tag group of unlikely heroes, the seven deadly sinners, are Kiznaivers. Allowing, the title of the anime to be brought into play. Now for the questions time: What did you think of the anime so far and will you continue the series? I have to say, that Otaku-kun will definitely be watching more of this anime soon. *claps hands together* As far as the anime, I truly like the animation which kind of has a Kill La Kill vibe to it (And no, I don't watch Kill La Kill, sorry). The characters have really interesting personalities and I look forward towards seeing their development. So far I'm also enjoy the plot line, as it's very original. Favorite character so far? The Eccentric Headcase (Niyama-kun) -- "Come --- Come, Come, Come--"What exactly are you doing there?" "It's an altar to summon the fairies!" "Fairies?" "Yep! You go like this to summon them. Come... Come, Come, Come!" The Goody-Two-Shoes & The Teacher who plays dating sims during class time and ignores the lesson to complain about how the free plays don't allow you to do anything (HOW I RELATEEEEEE!!!!). Well, I'd write more but it is already early in the morning. I need to stop making a habit out of midnight anime binges. Anyway, this is Otaku-Kun logging off.
Konnichiwa fellow Otakus, and welcome back to my blog! Dating Sims. They've brought many interesting aspects into the gaming community, along with the "Singles" community. Allowing us to choose a character (Or a title in which the character is selected without knowing who they are such as Heart World [Amnesia: Memories] ) and slowly bond with them. Eventually, the heroine of the story will begin to fall in love and, depending on the way you responded to questions throughout the game, you'll be given a happy or terribly tragic ending. The main characters will sometimes act foolish or dim-witted depending on the game you play, and others will seem very intelligent and sometimes wise beyond their years. However, there's one main problem with these games which send my head spinning.... That is the option to choose the Antagonist as the character of interest. This is an option that can sometimes be unlocked after selecting (almost) all of the different characters you can date within the game. You know deep down from playing the other characters how truly evil they are. How harshly they hurt the MC of the story. Yet, you slowly begin to realize that they're truly just misunderstood heroes, sometimes forced against their will to hurt the MC. In Ukyo's case (Amnesia: Memories), his Heroine died so he kept going to different dimensions in hope to save them and every time he slowly began to lose his sanity with each dimension. When you finally play his route, his sanity is messed up to the biggest extent, that he can no longer define whether he wants to kill you to end the Heroine's suffering, or save you. He tries to push you away constantly, and yet he pursues you anyway. He leaves you in a confused mess... and yet, you know and see his humanity despite the damage to his sanity. In the Wizard's route (Dandelion: Wishes Brought To You), you're brought to tears in every way possible (Like almost all the routes in this game). Throughout the series, you see the Wizard as someone cruel. He's the one who put all those cute fuzzy animals into a basket which turned into humans (and always were human like from the start). He's the one who told them that in order for them to be able to save the one's they loved and have their wishes fulfilled they had to compete for the Heroine's love, but only one of them could have their wish fulfilled. In the end, you'd be left in tears, because of what the Wizard had done to the MC and her love life.
Despite all of this, something intrigued me to his route. You had to unlock it by playing other routes. However, it's worth it, trust me. It left me in a puddle of tears. This man who made a living erasing memories was willing to give up EVERYTHING, everything to be with the Heroine. So now you're probably asking, why do you say "It's a problem" when it sounds like you like it? Well, the main reason why I call it a "Problem," despite my love for them, is the fact that it's beginning to become over-used in the Dating Sims franchise and as they attempt to find new plot lines, the reason why I love the Wizard and Ukyo, is beginning to fade away. They're beginning to stick to the original cliché plot of "The Antagonist is simply the antagonist." They justify the fact you're dating them with simple reasons like "Oh, it's a forced dating thing," but in the end that doesn't leave you loving the character, it only leaves a continuing feeling of dislike and hatred. I prefer the feeling of becoming a puddle of sadness at the end of a route because it feels like a part of your life has ended, as compared to that of the stereotypical plot. I like that they gave their antagonists the ideals such as, "I don't belong here. I'm simply here to watch in agony, and play my part." With these new plots, you're no longer left with the feeling of "Perhaps the antagonist isn't so bad after all. Maybe there was never one to begin with." To me, that's the truly heart-breaking part. To this day the dating sim, Dandelion: Wishes Brought To You, is my favorite sim, and Amnesia: Memories being a close second compared to the few others I've seen. My favorite characters being Jiwoo & Wizard from Dandelion, and Shin & Kent from the Amnesia series. These sims left an impact on me in a way I never thought they could. They showed me that even the antagonist has a heart, they just never had the proper chance to shine. So, that's about it for this post. Thanks for reading, and tune in next time. - Otaku-kun \(*^*)/ My friend one day asked me during our conversation, "How can you love anime characters?" Let me lay it out as simply as possible here.... Because. I. Can. Haha, no. There's more to it than that, and that's what I intend to dive into today. (Note, when I say love, I don't mean like real life romance. I'm not like the people who buy a body pillow of their "Waifu/Husbando" just to celebrate their birthday... that's a weeaboo thing.) So, in my last post "To Want An "Anime-Like" Love" I discussed why otaku's want "anime-like" loves in a way this post coincides with that one. As the character's personalities are something I look at.
So, Otaku-kun get to the point... why do you love anime characters? Because there are no lies. What you see in the anime is their true personality. No lies, no secrets, no deciphering what paparazzi titles were real or not. They lay out their lives before you in full intricate details. That's why I can say I love anime characters. With real life actors, you can say you love the actor. But do you truly love the person, or just their gift in acting or their roles? You can't truly say you love them because you never met them. They could be ten times cruller than the roles they play in real life, and you would never know. However, with anime characters you see their true personality. So there's your answer... this was a really short post. XD -Otaku-kun P.s. Howl & Fujimoto-san are mine. :3 |
