So Ramen is commonly associated with Asian culture, so I figured I would review instant ramen on here and give you all my perspectives... so yeah.
Indomie's Mi Goreng Fried Noodles Prep: Cook the noodles Strain the noodles Combine with seasonings Eat! The noodles are so hard not to eat before cooking! They're so much more delicious than standard ramen! The seasonings that are included are: Fried Onions & Bumbu dried seasoning, Minyak Bumbu seasoning oil, chili sauce, & a sweet soy sauce. My Minyak Bumbu appeared to be expired, so it was left out of this review. This ramen was fairly spicy for my tastes, however, the flavor was extremely delicious! I loved the strong onion taste, and would highly suggest it to others. The spice was nice in the sense that it did not hit you all at once, but rather felt like someone was slowly turning up a thermostat that my mouth was connected to. I feel like my experience with this dish would have been more pleasant had my lips not been chapped due to the winter weather. My rating: 7/10 -- The Otaku in Converse.

Hey Everyone!
I know it's been a long while since I've updated, guilty as charged. I've been so busy between life, anime, school, and relationships. There's so much I work on constantly that writing is hard anymore. Haha, but let's get back onto topic shall we? As many of you know, I'm fairly close friends with Makka the Amerikan (You should totally check out her YouTube channel by the way). About a year ago (-ish) she mentioned to me her wonderful experiences at Ohayocon and how cool it was. I had never been to any anime conventions before. In all honesty, I've only gone to comic expos and cons. The idea of going to a convention surrounded by something I adore and others who adore it just as much made me extremely happy. So when she asked if I was interested in going I said yes without a second thought. I spent hours planning my cosplays and buying things online to piece them together. I'm kinda new to the sewing machine, and to make-up, I was and still kinda am a major Tom-boy. So I primarily buy stuff online and at thrift stores to create my cosplays. Thankfully, I also had a bit of help from an amazing costume designer (*cough* Makka *cough*) to help create the apron for my cat maid cosplay. Now there was the car rides, which we used our handy-dandy iPhones and Youtube to blast dubstep LoZ music, BabyMetal, and Melanie Martinez. Now I'll dive into the hotel, oh my angels! It was beautiful. Now I'm used to going to Holiday Inns and etc, but this hotel lordy be it felt like I was someone else. I felt like I needed to have a red dress on that was skin tight like you would see on film, maybe a pearl or diamond necklace. Did I mention they served french toast for breakfast? I melted in my chair! They also had amazing deserts like Creme Brulee Cheesecake! Okay, now to discuss the best part, the con. So even though some of the merch was lacking (aka barely a thing from these past seasons and no death parade), I still managed to score some pretty cool stuff (as I type I'm watching Diamond Daydreams to be exact). I scored a bag of cute (& a bag of adventure [which wasn't too exciting or adventurous so we shall ignore it]), and a bag of cheap, both of which had an amazing amount of stuffs. I think I fangirled the most over my OHSHC Merch, cause I've been a major fangirl of OHSHC since I watched it in like 2013 (Also still upset over the lies spread that it was getting a second season during the spring of this year...). So the first day we went to our first panel, which was about Corseted Cosplay. It was a really interesting panel, but it brought a lot of things to me and my friend's attentions which I'm going to address in a later post. We also got to attend the opening of Ohayocon which was fairly cool too! Although, the inner singer in me (yes I can sing..... that's a thing), wanted to run up on stage and sing with the girls singing on stage. Not to mention how many cosplayers I saw that I just wanted to run up to and compliment their hard-work (but there's a time and place for everything). So the first day was really fun cosplaying as neku maids (I was a himedere :3 ), and overall was fairly interesting. So the second day was by far the best day. We all decided to do a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time cosplay. I was Navi, which pretty much consisted of a light turquoise dress, turquoise fairie wings, and white lace sleeves. There was a LoZ photo-shoot too, which was super fun cause I was the only Navi there and I got to pick on ALL THE LINKS. ALLLLLLLL OF THEMMMMMM. Hehehe. Also I may have walked into a small comic books tore at the con and yelled "HEY LISTEN!" and everyone may have paused and starred at me (not even kidding XD This happened it was fantabulous). I don't even recall all of the panels we attended that day. So my bad on that. We also went to the dance (*cough* rave *cough*) to grab some footage and just to stay for a few songs. I have to say that there were some very talented break-dancers there, but this sparked another topic I will be later addressing. Lastly we have the last day, this day we were all exhausted and fairly dead inside from little sleep. We attended my favorite panel of Ohayocon "How to talk to girls." Which was flat out hilarious and had some really good advice (for those of you there, don't listen to the one guy. It's not good to build your relationships on lies. Although it was funny when he corrected that he had twelve divorces to ten. XD ). Overall, if I could write out every moment of Ohayocon in full detail I would, but I'm lucky enough to be able to write out this. Hopefully, I'll be able to post a better version (The Extended Edition [Insert epic music here]) later on. I'm hoping that once summer comes along I'll have more time to focus on writing and reviews. I apologize in advance for how rough-draft-ish this post is, and I look forward to fixing that in the Extended edition. Thanks for reading guys! Otaku-kun. Recently I visited one of the local stores and found a set of Pocky in a very cute plastic wrap titled "Lovely Halloween". I have the picture below so you can see it for yourself. I proceeded to purchase the item and visited a couple of my friends to ask them for their opinions. In case you are unable to read Japanese (as I was unable to at the time of trying them), the three flavors within the package are Strawberry, Pumpkin Apple, and Milk! I hope you were as equally shocked as I was to hear that milk was a flavor. To begin this weird flavored pocky journey, I chose to begin with the weirdest flavor: milk.
I was unable to get any of my friends to try this flavor, so I will do my best to give you my perspective on it. When you look at the pocky stick, it appears as though it was dipped in a glass of milk because of how translucent the white chocolate is. I expected it to taste like white chocolate; however, I was very wrong. It indeed tasted like milk. The smooth and creamy taste was honestly addictive. However, the flavor lasts a shorter amount of time. The next flavor I chose is a lot more common to find in the terms of pocky, which is strawberry. My opinion: It is not bad to be honest. Although it is not my favorite flavor, as it tastes very artificial. Makka the Amerikan’s Opinion: It was kinda like eating strawberry shortcake in a stick form. The cream tastes like strawberry milk. I saved Pumpkin Apple Pocky as the last review. My Opinion: It really is not that spectacular. It tastes like white chocolate. This is the most disappointing Pocky I have ever tasted. Sanae’s Opinion: This tastes like white chocolate on a stick…. What flavor is this supposed to be? (Otaku-kun: “Pumpkin Apple.”) Okay…. (Otaku-kun: “It tastes nothing like it, right?”) Not even close. I suggest you venture out into the realm of pocky and try these flavors out for yourself. Don’t be afraid to try something new. You never know what you may end up falling in love with. - Otaku-kun, the Adventurer. Hey fellow Otakus! Otaku-kun here! So this is a collab with the astonishingly beautiful Makka the Amerikan! If you don’t know her, I highly suggest you go watch her videos. She’s really a wonderful person, and she does a lot of musical covers, along with Otaku Lessons for those who are new to the Otaku Community. I’m linking her video below, feel free to watch it on my channel, or go find her on Youtube and watch her videos. *Note that this is based off of our own personal opinions, and you’re free to agree/disagree & comment what you like or would add to your own lists! “OTAKU-KUN WRAP IT UP!” O.O I better hurry… Halloween specials, at least every one of our favorite shows in America has one of these. However, anime is a bit different. Anime usually focuses more on Valentine’s Day/ White Day, and Christmas. Lucky for you though, I searched through almost all of the anime in which I’ve seen in my lifetime (which took a while) and composed a list just for you. So, let’s get to it. Number Five: Hetalia: The World Twinkle Halloween Special Okay, so this is at number five for a few reasons, one being that Hetalia episodes are only like 12 minutes long, and secondly because… I put it there, deal with it. So for those unfamiliar to what Hetalia is, it is an anime revolving around countries. Each character is given a name of a country like America, Germany, Belgium, Japan, etc. and they basically embody that country. It’s fairly cute and extremely full of stereotyping to make it extra funny. So this episode surrounds the characters at a Halloween Party. So of course everyone is in the spirit in costumes, even France (Who may or may not have made a comment about dueling in bed). Haha, so this is obviously on the non-threatening, no-jumpscare, slightly kawaii side of Halloween. Number Four-- Hyouka (Episode Fourteen) Yes, yes, I ranked this a four. Overall the anime is very cutesy, and at sometimes utterly confusing. So the reason why, once again, this is ranked at a four is because Halloween is only lightly touched discussed or shown in the episode. However, there’s no way I could not add this to the list when two girls have pumpkins on their head and a fake gun in one of their hands singing, “Trick or treat, yay!” Number Three-- Bleach (Episode 304) Alright, so I’m sure many of you have heard of Bleach, but if you haven’t I just suggest typing “Bleach” into the search bar, because I have like ten minutes before I have to bolt for a Halloween partayyyyyy (< Remind me to never EVER say that again). To simplify, Bleach is about a young teenage boy who obtains the power of a soul reaper and spends way too many episodes learning how to control these powers and protect those he cares for. So in this episode, is overall funny for the viewers. We’re so used to the characters at this point that we know their personalities inside and out, and suddenly they’re stereotypical Halloween characters like Frankenstein and a succubus! I mean in all honesty it doesn’t get any weirder than this, or does it? Only one way to find out… Number Two -- Ouran High School Host Club Halloween Special OHSHC, Ouran High School Host Club, a big favorite within the Otaku Community. Basically boys with too much time on their hands entertain girls with way too much time on their hands, meanwhile a girl cosplaying as a guy dreams about fancy tuna and scares everyone away with her ‘commoner’s coffee.’ That was an exaggeration, but it is a super cute anime I highly suggest. So basically they turn the school into a haunted house, and low and behold a few situations happen where some people are scared to their wits-end and others are having a bit too much fun. Plus, we get a fun scenario between our protagonist Haruhi, and the twins. *laughs evilly with a smirk on their face and regrets nothing* Number One—Cowboy Bebop – Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door Okay, So I’ll admit, that I’m just starting to get into Cowboy Bebop, and have only seen a few episodes. *Gomennasai* But, this quickly earned it’s ranking for a few simple reasons.
Well, thank you guys for reading and happy Halloween! -Otaku-kun, the Vampire. Hey guys,
I know I’m really getting bad at updating. Haha, but I just figured out how to fix it all. To fix my load, I’m cutting back a bit on this site. That doesn’t mean I’m not updating, nor not updating often, it just means I’m taking a new creative stand point. Rather than going in depth over each episode, and risking spilling a ton of spoilers, I am going to do a first impressions post then a last impressions post going over my final thoughts. Thank you all for sticking around and helping me figure out all this. It’s truly been a rollercoaster, and I’m enjoying every twist and turn and surprises that lie up ahead. Thanks once again, Otaku-kun |
